When I first began working as a newspaper photojournalist, I did a lot of weekend sports. I always strived to capture the best possible stop-action image of any sport. A photograph that captured athleticism, skill, players gyrating and jumping, and the human drama that is so much a part of any sport photograph.

I have been obsessed with sports photography since those beginning days.

I occasionally stop by a local Boise Park where the Gem State Mens Lacrosse League plays their games. Using slow shutter speeds and creating in-camera multiple exposures, I found the abstract side of sports photography offered a much different set of images. While missing the high impact, stop-action type photos, I discovered different images of movement, color, design and in abstract compositions with traces of identifiable elements.
